Three Birds Renovations - House 13

THREE BIRDS RENOVATIONS

When Louisa, a talented interior designer, started planning her family's dream home, she called upon the Three Birds Renovations team she knows and loves. Having grown up on Sydney's northern beaches, Louisa was keen for a tree change with her husband and two young sons, and this expansive rural property in the city's north west caught her eye.

Louisa worked as an intrinsic part of the Three Birds Renovations team, as she has done many times before, and together, they turned her vision into an incredible reality. Inspired by holiday destinations and design elements from around the world, this sprawling, single storey residence fuses coastal holiday vibes with luxe resort touches.

Oversized windows and large, sliding doors feature throughout this home in order to maximise its spectacular outlook: rolling green meadows, native bushland and towering gum trees. The area can also get very hot in summer and cool in winter, and as such, the team's choice of window coverings played a very important role.

The consultants at Luxaflex worked with the Three Birds Renovations crew from the outset to design and deliver the perfect coverings throughout – from shutters in various shapes and sizes, to several sets of curtains, a range of shades, and some impressive outdoor awning solutions that both add to the look of this home, and offer all-important protection from the elements.

Pool House

The pool house was actually the first element of this vast home to be built, and in many ways was a 'trial run' for the larger home. This bright and open space features a dramatic oval-shaped bar area, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchenette. There's also a stunning, curved daybed topped with a mountain of plush cushions - the perfect place to while away the hours.

To ensure this space can support total rest and relaxation, the team chose Luxaflex® Roman Shades in the Beach Blinds variety, with blockout fabric. These smart blinds make it easy to quickly adjust the light flowing into the pool house, while fusing seamlessly with the stylish interiors. The team also chose the PowerView® Motorisation option for these blinds, which means they can be quickly opened, closed or adjusted with the touch of a button – ideal for long, lazy summer days.

The outdoor terrace of the pool house, which features a large table and BBQ, can also be turned into an outdoor room with a spectacular Luxaflex® Evo MagnaTrack Awning. With official Australian Made qualifications, this is the most technology advanced straight-drop outdoor blind on the market. It provides floor to ceiling protection from the sun as well as insects. Making it the perfect awning for your outdoor entertaining areas.

To protect the pool house's interiors, the team also chose a Luxaflex® System 2000 Awning for the exterior windows. This awning also takes advantage of the pool house's sunny position, and is operated via a Photon One Solar Powered motor.

Rear and Front Foyer

One of the most remarkable things about this home is its dramatic and oversized entry, which offers a direct view all the way through to the rear of the home, across the pool to the bushland beyond.

To create a sense of luxury, without inhibiting light flow, the team chose Luxaflex® Curtains for both the entry and rear foyers. Each set of curtains are in sheer fabric and have PowerView® Motorisation, so they can be quickly and easily opened or closed with the touch of a button.

Family Lounge

Despite being just one of many places to sit and relax, the family lounge is very much a central part of this large and flowing home. With its soft, muted tones, comfy modular lounge and even a large palm tree in its corner, this room has a very distinct holiday vibe.

To control the flow of light into this room, in a way that complemented the stylish interiors, the team chose Luxaflex® Silhouette® Shadings with our signature S-Vanes. These shades combine elegance with functional design, and gently filter the flow of light into the room. For ease of use, the team also opted for PowerView Motorisation.

To add an additional element of softness to the room, they also added a sheer Luxaflex® Curtain with S-Wave design which opens from the centre.

Main Lounge

The main lounge is one of the most spectacular and impressive rooms in this grand home. It features a huge, arched window and door – covered by an incredible, six-metre sheer Luxaflex® Curtain, with S-Wave design. Like the curtain in the family room, this one is also equipped with PowerView Motorisation – making it easy to open and close.

Luxaflex® Silhouette® Shadings with signature S-Vanes and PowerView® Motorisation were also installed for privacy, and to help control the flow of light into this very beautiful space.

Dining Room

Despite having the same aesthetic as the rest of this house, this dining room has a slightly more formal feel – with a scalloped wall around a built-in bar area, large timber table and deep window seat piled with cushions.

To add a sense of class and style to this room, as well as control the flow of light, the team chose hinged Luxaflex® PolySatin Shutters in white. They also chose blockout opacity, so the room can be completely dark in the evening.

In addition to having official Australian Made Qualifications, Luxaflex® PolySatin Shutters are also backed with a 20 year warranty, which was important for the family's peace of mind.

Guest Bathroom, Boy's Bathroom and Main Ensuite

Hinged Luxaflex® PolySatin Shutters in white were chosen throughout the bathrooms of this home. This is due to their enduring style, as well as their impressive durability.

PolySatin Shutters are ideal for wet rooms as they are impervious to moisture and will not blister, peel or fade, ensuring a quality finish for years to come.

The main ensuite bathroom features a few varieties to match the different window designs: PolySatin Shutters in an elliptical shape, as well as two sets of hinged shutters with ClearView® operation.

Boy's Bedroom

A tranquil and stylish haven, the boys' bedroom flows through to a huge walk-in wardrobe and storage area, and then to a beautiful ensuite bathroom.

Being able to create a tranquil relaxing space for her boys was important for Louisa, and she chose hinged Luxaflex® PolySatin Shutters with SmartView operation, in blockout opacity, for this room.

Boy's Loft Room

The boys' loft room is another fantastic space in this home – complete with two modular couches, stylish wallpaper, palm-tree artwork, and a giant LG TV. It also features skylights which open to let in light and fresh air. To cover these skylights, the team chose the very innovative fitted Luxaflex® Duette® shades which sit in a specially-designed cavity and slide up from the bottom. As well as controlling the flow of light, the unique honeycomb structure of these blinds also provides all-important insulation.

East and West Doors

One of the most remarkable things about this home is its connection with the outdoors, and there are multiple doors and entry points around the home. To cover the east and west doors, the Three Birds Team chose Bi-Fold PolySatin Shutters with SmartView operation.

Laundry

Even the laundry of this home is a masterpiece – with a marble-look splashback and shelving, textured ceramic tiles, a stunning hanging pendant light, and gold handles and tapware. Hinged, white PolySatin Shutters above the laundry sink complete the look of this stylish room.

Main Bedroom

Opening directly onto the pool area, the main bedroom has all the scale and grandeur of a room in a luxury holiday resort - complete with a four-poster bed and enormous walk-in wardrobe and dressing room.

Filled with natural light from the rear of the home, it was important that this room could also be turned into a quiet sanctuary for rest and relaxation, and so the team chose translucent Silhouette® Shades which gently diffuse the light and also have PowerView® Motorisation. They also chose a luxuriously heavy Luxaflex® Curtain in blockout fabric, which can be opened and closed with a wand.

Mudroom

Even the mudroom in this beautiful home is anything but basic, with beautiful joinery and plenty of storage. This handy room provides a great space for the family when coming from their garage into the home. The room features a Luxaflex® Curtain with PowerView® Motorisation, and translucent Silhouette® Shades – also with PowerView® Motorisation.

Study

With so many people now working remotely, at least some of the time, study areas are becoming increasingly important in rooms in new homes. This study is one you certainly won't want to leave – with a muted colour palette, elegant stone desk, and gentle lighting.

To enable the owners to control the flow of light into this space, the team installed sheer Modern Roman Shades in Linen fabric and with PowerView® Motorisation, as well as room-darkening Luxaflex® Pirouette® Shadings – also with PowerView® Motorisation and in Linen. Exclusive to Luxaflex®, Pirouette® shades have softly contoured, front-facing fabric vanes attached to a single sheer backing. When opening and closing, the vanes move in tandem to create a fluid, graceful effect.

Guest Room

As family that loves entertaining, Louisa and her husband wanted to create a space where guests would feel like they were also on holiday. The stunning guest room features a beautiful colour palette and soft furnishings, as well as room-darkening Luxaflex® Pirouette® Shadings in Satin, with PowerView® Motorisation.
